Job Description:
MedAide is a multi-faceted, fast-paced role with several hats. They listen to patients and their families to ensure needs are being addressed, educate patients on medical procedures or conditions, keep patient records up to date, and act as a liaison between the patient and healthcare personnel by keeping the lines of communication flowing. The MedAide position is a role created to assist our physicians on staff. Job duties include but are not limited to: Managing lab orders, faxes, medication authorizations, scheduling appointments, helping with portal messages, patient vitals, and care coordination.
Additional tasks may include: processing lab orders, uploading requisitions, scheduling lab specimen pick ups. Tracking all lab orders pending results, and placing scheduled lab orders in a timely fashion. Primary management of lab results from faxes and third party websites.
Patient Vitals: checking in patients, properly taking and recording vitals, including but not limited to pulse oximetry, blood pressure, height, and weight at every visit.
Supply & Inventory: responsible for proper accounting of all clinical supplies and supplements, and completing order forms as needed, routing to appropriate administrative team in a timely fashion. Item expiration date monitoring is included in Inventory tasks.
BBP, HIPAA, and OSHA Compliance: responsible for ensuring all standards of care are met including but not limited to minimizing blood borne pathogens, upholding patient privacy, maintaining a sterile work environment, and clean space for patients at all times.
Secondary Reception: assist reception in tasks such as payments, scheduling, phones, and filing as needed; Especially on days reception is out of office.
Please note cleaning, including bathrooms, is a shared duty on a daily basis. Everyone in our office cleans.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- This is an administrative-heavy position that requires computer competencies in internet based programs, word, and managing multi-line phone systems. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are key. Use and understanding of general medical terminology is a must.
- Maintain current BBP training and cultural competency training certifications
- Active BLS certification and full comprehension, including use of AED machine
- NPDB Self Query Report, OIG Exclusion Report, and Background check will be performed on all employees
